NVIDIA ® ION™ GPU with Full HD 1080p playback capabilityĪSRock ION 330 series come with the powerful NVIDIA ® ION™ graphics processor which is well-known for it’s outstanding graphics performance. The native ION graphics also bring full support for CUDA applications and DirectX 10, Full HD 1080p (Blu-ray) playback and be able to play true high-definition videos and games.ĪSRock NetTop ION 330 system is the world’s 1 st ION NetTop system which passed the Windows ® 7 logo submission! Surely, our nettops are all fully compatible with Microsoft Windows ® 7! Not sure it could encode video fast but as a pure playback device it rocks.Equipped with the Intel ® Dual Core Atom™ 330 Processor, ASRock ION 330 series bring you the highest performance with the lowest power consumption. there's even an XBMC distro designed for the ION boards and a great deal of support in the forums just for this specific hardware. Overall Review: A little cheaper would be nice but for a HTPC it's the perfect size and can play my highest bitrate 1080 video without stutter. An onboard IRDA would be cool and they do offer one in another model but I'm using a $20 MCE clone easily. Front power LED is a bit bright - blue though which is nice but not a deep blue. Overall the perfect XBMC box but I wish it had a USB connector in the front too. Drive and memory size are fine for Linux, have yet to crack open the case, has been no need.Ĭons: A tiny bit noisier than I'd like but I use a higher speed cooling profile to keep the overclocked CPU cool. With Hyperthreading it can compile using 4threads at once but can no way compare to say a C2D at the same speed. Can be overclocked to over 2GHZ without issue. I use this with XBMC on HIGH bitrate 1080p videos and it works extremely well. Pros: DOES accelerate video with Linux using VDPAU and can output 5.1 sound via the HDMI port as well.

I honestly would recomend this to anyone! I may even get another for my Kitchen in the future. I was going to buy2x2gb sticks when I ordered it because I thought the 2gb it came with would not be sufficient, but I was wrong (at least for what I use it for)
Asrock ion 330 upgrade#
If you decide to buy I would try it out before you upgrade the ram. This app works over WiFi so distance and line of sight don't matter. Has a keyboard, mouse (like on a laptop), and has specific controls for Internet Explorer, Windows Media Player, and some others. Overall Review: If your using this as a HTPC, need a remote, and have a iPhone or iPod Touch check out the app "Air Mouse" ($2-3 I think?). There is one out there with a pretty Apple on it that is several hundred dollars more.Ĭons: None that i didn't know going in by READING the specs! Front USB ports would be nice though lol. Infact, there are similer products that don't have these specs for near the same price.

This thing just works and could sell for more $ imo. this thing is SILENT!!! another nice feature is you can turn off the blue power button/light in the bios very easy. This unit has plenty of HD space unless you plan on storing a lot of video on it.

1080p HDMI out looks great on my 60" Sony. Duel core cpu allows 64bit os, and can be oc'd very easy (I oc's my to 1.8 but don't think it's even needed as the cpu usage never reaches even 80% when I've done multiple things at once).

It has gig LAN so I have no problems streaming the movies as my router and server pc are also both 10/100/1000. I use it to stream DVD's burned to a computer in my office with a TB HD. Pros: I use this unit as a HTPC hooked up in my family room.
